Verizon lets customers test drive

Building on its long-standing campaign to tout its network coverage and reliability, Verizon Wireless today announced that it was going to let customers be their own Test Man or Test Woman by letting them have 30 days to use their Verizon service and if they aren't satisfied, they will get a refund for their voice calls, the handset, activation fees and taxes. In addition, they will be released from their contract and not be charged an early termination fee. However, customers will be responsible for their data charges, 411 calls and certain surcharges. Verizon says that the "test drive" option is available for new customers that sign up for an America's Choice plan.

Verizon, of course, has always pushed the envelope when it comes to early termination fees. Last June, then-CEO Denny Strigl announced that Verizon would prorate its early termination fees proportional to the time left on their agreements.
