Strategy Analytics: Smartphone sales charged back in Q4

Smartphone market shareAccording to research firm Strategy Analytics, smartphone sales jumped 30 percent year-over-year in the fourth quarter to 53 million units--a boom that corresponds with a wider acceleration of the global handset market during the period. Nokia had a remarkably strong quarter in terms of smartphones, and easily outpaced Research In Motion and Apple for the global smartphones sales and market share lead. However, the analyst firm warned of heating competition due to the stepped-up smartphone efforts of Samsung and LG. Release
