Obama administration says U.S. hit goal of covering 98% of Americans with LTE

In his January 2011 State of the Union address, President Barack Obama pledged within the next five years, his administration would work to make it possible for carriers to deploy LTE to 98 percent of all Americans. The pledge came around four months after MetroPCS launched the nation's first LTE network and less than two months after Verizon Wireless (NYSE: VZ) began its own LTE buildout. 

And this week, the White House announced that, based on newly released data from the Commerce Department's National Telecommunications and Information Administration, that goal had been reached nearly two years ahead of schedule. Post
